About Human Anatomy

Human anatomy relates to the structure of the human body, often involving the study of physiology, histology, and embryology. Simply put, human anatomy is the study of the structure of a person. Human anatomy is often studied by health professionals, physiologists, and anatomists to better understand the cells, tissues, organs, and systems that make up human beings. By knowing more about our makeup, we are better able to understand why we function the way we do and have more insights into helping humans live longer, healthier lives.

About Physiology

Physiology is a branch of biology that looks at the scientific study of the functions and mechanisms of living systems. Basically, physiology is the study of the “normal function” of any living thing so that that thing can live in homeostasis. Specifically, physiology focuses on how organisms, organ systems, cells, and biomolecules carry out the chemical and physical functions in a living thing (plant, animal, etc.). It can be divided into many sub-topics, including medical, plant, animal, cell, and comparative physiology.

Human Anatomy & Physiology in the Classroom

Studying human anatomy and physiology in the classroom can sometimes be difficult. While it’s easy to understand homeostasis and certain aspects of basic anatomy, it can be hard to get to the root of why we function the way we do on a microscopic level.
